Full blue leather with ornate gilt border, banded spine and title. Marbled endpapers and text block edges. Small previous booksellers label to fep. Some age related wear and rubbing to the edges, spine and corners, with fading to the spine. Some marks to the front and back. Pages are clean and tight. No issues with the spine.

Matching bespoke bindings of full red morocco with five raised bands to each spine, titling in gilt to second compartments and 'London' in gilt to sixth. Gilt dentelles and marbled endpapers. All page edges bright gilt, with dust-dulling to tops only. Attractively bound copies with rubbing and general light wear. All three volumes have gift inscriptions (dated 1876-1878) to Margaret Helen Awdry from her brother Walter - family of Wilbert Vere Awdry, creator of 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. Longfellow and Byron are illustrated with portrait frontispieces and other full-page engravings. Both 720 pp. Campbell has 465 pp. and is illustrated with a portrait frontispiece and 37 woodcuts from designs by Harvey. BYRON: 'The Poetical Works of Lord Byron: Reprinted from the Original Editions with Explanatory Notes, &c.'. This is the Chandos Poets edition published by Frederick Warne & Co. The Publisher's Preface states: "This edition contains the whole of Byron's Poems and Dramas with his Original Notes. A few additional Notes have been added by the Editor, which appeared necessary to further elucidate the text." Foxing to front and back matter, and very occasional light spotting to page margins, but contents predominantly clean without inscriptions, foxing or other markings. Published by George Routledge and Sons. Preface dated 1851. Offsetting from frontispiece, foxing to front and back matter but contents o/w clean without inscriptions, foxing or other markings. An attractive copy. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. LONGFELLOW: 'The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Reprinted from the Revised American Edition, Including Recent Poems.)'. This is the Chandos Poets edition published by Frederick Warne & Co. The Publisher's Preface of 1875 states this is "the latest edition of Longfellow's Poems, revised and corrected by comparison with his last American Edition, in which he made nearly a hundred emendations. These improvements on the original publication will be found in no other English edition. The volume also contains a greater number of poems than any other issue of the works of this popular author; and include Morituri Salutamus." Foxing to front and back matter, and a few illustrations, but contents predominantly clean without inscriptions, foxing or other markings. A very attractive copy. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall.
