Jesse Beery's Practical System of Colt Training, and the Best Modes of Subduing Wild and Vicious Horses [etc.]
by Beery, Jesse
188p, several line ills. "showing appliances, and the horse in different positions." No jacket, as issued. Bookplate and pencil gift inscription. Beery's first book, in which he explains in detail his taming methods and recalls how he experimented with difficult horses until "Father finally forbid me to bring any more bad Horses on the place." It quickly went through at least four editions. Although Beery's later correspondence-school training pamphlets are readily available, this early title is very scarce and contains much material not available elsewhere. (Wells 681) Can be sent outside the US for less than the default shipping rate. Very good (covers spotted, hinges reinforced) Hardcover (original pebbled cloth, leather spine)
