MP3 Audio CD. The Man with Two Left Feet, and Other Stories is a collection that contains thirteen of P. G. Wodehouse?s early work that already foreshadow the style and perspective that make more mature pieces by Wodehouse so entertaining and thought-provoking.The world depicted in these early Wodehouse stories is just as idyllic as the universe of his later writings, what?s more, one of the short stories is narrated by a dog called Mixer who tells about his life from when he was a puppy and up to the time when he finds the best home. The collection is miscellaneous, featuring stories about sports, relationships, pets and most of them features none of Wodehouse?s well-known characters, with the only exception of the story entitled Extricating Young Gussie, which marks the very first appearance of Jeeves and Bertie, his master, though not in major roles. Some of the stories, such as the one entitled At Geisenheimer?s, are romances that always end in happy note. The story that lends the collection its title is about a man worried that his wife might get bored because of his clumsiness and his inability to dance and therefore he decides to take dance lessons. His dance lessons cause more harm to his marriage than good as it eventually turns out that his wife?s favorite activity is not dancing, but staying home and listening to her husband as he reads for her aloud. The pieces in the collection are as well-written and entertaining as Wodehouse?s later work ? if you are interested to read stories that do not feature Jeeves or Bertie, but are just as great as the ones that do, written in a style that is sympathetic to clumsiness and always understanding towards the lives it is used for describing, the more than a dozen stories in this book will surely entertain and amuse you.
