  • Publisher: Imprenta Imperial de D. Alejandro Valdés

Mexico: Imprenta Imperial de D. Alejandro Valdés, 1821. Still very good.. 21pp. Small quarto. Removed from a sammelband. Contemporary numeration in upper margin of title page. Light tanning and foxing. The author of this speech, José Miguel Ramirez, was a colonial representative from Mexico in the Spanish Cortes. The work comprises an appeal to reform the Spanish Constitution so that it might function more effectively in Spanish America. A very interesting, last-ditch plea that died after leaving his pen, as Mexico achieved independence just three months after he gave this address in June 1821. OCLC notes four copies in U.S. libraries. Garritz 5198. Sutro 270.
