Excellent first edition copies with just the slightest touch of shelf wear at the ends of the spines. The books record the situation country by country soon after hostilities in the area ceased, both text and illus. by Beaton but neither book an official report. Condition of both booksexcellent., but cases slightly faded at edges. Size: 8vo

Many more of the photographs were published in the books Indian Album and Chinese Album.Edges and endpapers a bit spotted. Slight fading to head and tail of spine. Very good in very good, slightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper chipped along top edges.

111 pages with another 32 pages of photograph plates and illustrations, line drawings by CB in the text, colour frontispiece from a watercolour by the author also. wrapper has a little foxing at spine and at top edge of the rear of the wrapper, the orange cloth boards are near fine as are the contents, there are no inscriptions and the price of 15/- is intact on front flap. The paper used is quality hand made wood-pulp fibre mixture and is fine. Slim octavo. 1945. *Sent by HM Government with the Ministry of Information, but this isn't an official account, nor does it mention the agitator and dissident Ghandi. It is a photographers own impressions.

Some spotting to endpapers and page edges. Dust jacket has small piece missing at the top of the spine, price-clipped, in a protective cover.

First Impression. Book is Near Fine in reddish-orange cloth, in a Very Good example of the exotic pink and grey dustwrapper, not price-clipped. Crown of spine very slightly rubbed. Unsigned bookplate stamp to front free endpaper. Spine-ends of jacket worn, less to flap-points. 111pp. Illustrated with black and white photographs. Q15116

A first edition, first printing published by Batsford in 1945. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper is finely illustrated by Beaton but suffers from rubbing at the corners and a chip to the head of the spine. It has not been price clipped. This copy has a neat gift inscription and is, overall, a very good copy, uncommon in this complete condition. Cecil Beaton

Illustrations and photographs throughout. Square, tight and clean throughout with moderate wear to edges and tips. Off-setting to end-papers but clean text. Attractive unclipped dust-jacket, (15s. net), has a 2" split at teh top of the rear fold. several pieces of brown tape on the reverse with a few ghost marks where tape was removed. Small chips and closed edge-tears. Still clean and complete. A very pretty collectable copy of a scarce title.
