(Reprint, Vol. XVI of the "Argonaut Edition" of the Works of Bret Harte). Good+/No Dust Jacket. 8vo (approx. 8" tall x 5") hardcover, 494 pages, w/ frontispiece illustration of Frimley Church. Rubbed green boards & binding w/ blind stamp border and square rural scene on the front, tree in oval on the spine + gilt lettering (including volume number but w/o the publisher's name) on the spine. Slightly sun-darkened spine w/ bumped spine head, edge wear including a touch of fraying in the spine head & tail. Soiling spot on rear board. Dust-stained top edge text block. Small binding crack before pages 1, and a bit open but no crack between pages 492 & 493. Remaining contents are clean and firmly bound. A solid copy.
