Some minor surface wear/soiling, very good or better. Although superseded by Krumhansl's bibliography and Fogel's own 1999 updating, still a useful guide to Bukowski's publications.

Santa Rosa ::: Black Sparrow Press,,, 1994... Limited Edition. A Fine unread copy in Acetate dust jacket. This is one of 100 hardcover copies numbered and signed by the author. This is the first book-length critical and scholarly assessment of Bukowski's work and takes a close look at his poetry and fiction. Although Harrison's writings on Bukowski's poetry and fiction are scholarly, they are hardly unpartisan, adopting an almost strident tone in arguments that the late poet's work remains unjustly unappreciated. Harrison argues consistently if not always convincingly, Bukowski has been ignored by academics and anthologists in part because he doesn't fit neatly into a genre and in part because his subject is the working class. Harrison presents Bukowski as a ``social lyricist'' and ``a proletarian poet'' who saw life in America as deadening, routinized, and whose achievement was to make poetry out of his refusal to buy into the American Dream. Harrison is at his most helpful when tracing the literary and popular influences in Bukowski's work, from the Surrealists and Bertold Brecht to Henry Miller and Jackie Gleason. Harrison quotes extensively from Bukowski's writings and analyzes their message in hopes of gaining a sympathetic and wider audience for a poet who defies convention.

This is renown Bukowski collector Al Fogel's original comprehensive Bukowski checklist published in 1982 which updates Sanford Dobin's bibliography published in 1969 by Black Sparrow Press. The entries begin with Buk's first separate broadside "20 Tanks from Kasseldown" up through his most famous novle "Ham on Rye." Each entry is annotated. The bibliographical information is timeless and is an important reference book for any Bukowski collector or enthusiast.

Dover: Bottle of Smoke Press, 1996. First edition. Loose Sheets. Very Good. A suite of twenty poetry broadsides laid into a photo-illustrated paper folder. Number 75 of 200 copies printed. The broadsides, printed on various color paper, measure 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" tall. Each one is in very good condition with slight waviness to one corner. Three of the broadsides have been SIGNED (Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Soheyl Dahi and A. D. Winans). Scarce collection which includes "Mannequins" by Charles Bukowski as well as "A Postcard from the Bridge" by Richard Brautigan among others.

In the spring of 1970 Charles Bukowski took his first plane trip for a poetry reading at Bellevue Community College in Washington state. That he was videotaped by two students apparently was later forgotten, but the tapes were later rediscovered and were released by Black Sparrow press 1998.This is the limited-edition copy of the VHS tape, signed by Charles Bukowski. Only 100 copies were signed, this being hand-numbered #42.The gold seal has been broken, but is still attached. The entire package is in Near Fine condition, although I have not watched the tape. If it was played, it wasn't played much.This is Bukowski, then about 50, reading professionally to the students. No shouts from the audience, no back-and-forth banter, no profanity. Bukowski is just an ordinary-looking guy, maybe hungover, sitting before a small group of students reading his work with gusto, humor and sensitivity.Box 32

Alone In A Time Of Armies, was a single poem published as a by Black Sparrow Press for their 1985 "New Year's Greeting." A truly moving piece set in Philadelphia during WWII in which Bukowski reflects on his self-inflicted isolation during a lonely night. With a pleasing cover and title page design reminiscent of artwork by El Lissitzky. Krumhansl 94. Fine.

Published in 1962, Wormwood Review 7 was the first issue in which Charles Bukowski appeared. Over the next 34 years, Bukowski would appear in 97 issues of Wormwood Review, contributing hundreds of poems, many of which were never published in books.Wormwood Review was published by the legendary Marvin Malone (1930-1996). Malone was a pharmacologist, scientific researcher, educator, artist, poetry collector, and editor. Upon arrival at the University of Connecticut (Storrs) in 1960, Malone discovered the second issue of Wormwood Review and soon took over the publication as the sole editor, producing quarterly issues until his death in 1996.This copy is signed "Malone Maolone/Editor" on the inside rear cover. Maone was also the Cover Designer for Wormwood Review using the pseudonym, A. Sypher. This copy also has his A. Sypher signature on the top of the rear cover.any (if not most) of the copies of this issue were hand-colored by Malone and his children, making each copy one-of-a-kind. The poem that would later appear in Cold Dogs in the Courtyard (1965), A Bukowski Sampler (1969) and The Roominghouse Madrigals (1988).Wormwood Review was published by the legendary Marvin Malone (1930-1996). Malone was a pharmacologist, scientific researcher, educator, artist, poetry collector, and editor. Upon arrival to Storrs, Connecticut in 1960, Malone discovered the second issue of Wormwood Review and soon took over the publication as the sole editor, publisher, and designer (alias A. Notably there is a green-ink handsome holograph of Bukowski's poem "These Things" on page 205, presumably in Edie's hand; the poem is written in its entirety, but without the title (it finishes: "and we see names that once meant / wisdom, like signs into ghost towns, / and only the graves are real.") Laid in are a bookmark from the Grosse Pointe Book Village with a penciled quote from Gregory Corso (Edie was raised in Grosse Pointe, MI, and returned to it); a slip with instructions about growing amaryllis; and an announcement for the publication of Lawrence Ferlinghetti's The Hopper House of Truro from Lospecchio Press. An invoice (not included, but a photocopy can be provided) shows that this book was sold in 1997 with other volumes from Parker's library by the bookseller and Beat archive consultant Bill Morgan in NYC. Edie appears as Judie Smith in Kerouac's novel The Town and the City, as Elly in Visions of Cody, as Edna "Johnnie" Palmer in Vanity of Duluoz, and as herself in "The Original Scroll"--the unedited edition of On the Road. Her memoir You'll Be Okay: My Life with Jack Kerouac was published posthumously in 2007 by City Lights. Very good plus because of sunning to spine and a few light stains to orange wraps. An interesting copy.
