The title page indicates that the publisher is Manhattanville Press and the spine is stamped Willey Book Co. Late work by the Catholic novelist, essayist, and managing editor of the Catholic Encyclopedia, Conde Benoist Pallen (1858-1929). In this novel, a twentieth century king doesn't want to be king. Royalty, to him, is bondage. He believes kingship is out of date; he has a democratic nature. He seeks to escape from the coil that wraps around him and wants to give a Republic to his people.
