Twenty-ninth impression of the true first edition with just 29 at the bottom of the printer's page. Also stated 'Harry Potter, names, characters and related inidcia are copyright and trademark Warner Bros., 2000 TM' - indicating a publication date of 2000 or later. Also with three further titles including "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" listed as 'also available' - "The Goblet of Fire" was published in 2000. ***Near fine in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Corners sharp. No other bumps or creases to the boards. Page block edges clean - just slightly marked at the top edge. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. No reading creases. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. Pages clean and bright - just lightly tanned as usual. No creases or tears. The binding gutter at the title page is slightly strained due to the cheap binding quality of these books. The colours of the book are extremely bright and unfaded. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. Head and tail of spine of dustwrapper just very slightly creased. No chips or tears. Dust jacket has the original wizard on the back (not older Dumbledore). Other contained issue points specific only to earlier editions (and fixed in later) are "1 wand" repeated twice on the supply list on page 53 and 'highchair' as all one word on page 8. Numberline runs 10-6.

Supposedly Raincoast's first printing started with the number two in its numberline, not the traditional one like so many other publishers. Both book and jacket are in near fine condition. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a 1998 printing date. With Joanne Rowling as the copyright holder and a picture of the Young Wizard on the back board. ***Please note that there is no dustwrapper with this copy. ***A very good copy in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Bottom corner tips very slightly creased, otherwise corners sharp. There is a slight reading lean to the binding, but the spine is tight. Apart from some fading to the spine colours, the colours of the book are nice and bright. Internally, the book is also very good, with no inscriptions, ink marks or annotations. There are some light yellowing / foxing marks to the title page and page opposite. There is also some straining between these pages where the book has been opened flat. There is some slight wrinkling to the fore-edge of a few pages near the centre of the page block (please see scans). The paper stock is lightly tanned as usual.
