This is a truly fabulous bright, clean copy of the 3rd impression of the Canadian edition. Confusingly it has a 4 on the number line which is as called for since the first impression had a 2. This is an early reprint and therefore is a straight replica, so I'm reliably informed, of the first Bloomsbury impression. No inscriptions and looks hardly read. Toning from the page block edge as is common with these early copies. The Canadian printers reference is the clue on the copyright page. The dust jacket is lovely and bright and not price clipped, maybe with very slight edge wear which is barely noticeable and now protected by a removable jacket sleeve. "Raincoast" at the foot of the spine of the dj. Great copy.

A fine, bright copy of the 19th impression of the first book in the Harry Potter series. All the early hardbacks of this are becoming ever scarcer. There are no inscriptions and the pages are clean throughout, albeit a tad toned, especially at the page block edge. This is quite normal for early printings of the Stone. The pictorial boards are looking very bright and fresh still with no obvious marks excepting maybe the odd very minor surface scuff. . There are a couple of very minor knocks, at the top corner of the back board and the bottom corner of the front one, but you really do have to look hard to notice them. The dust jacket is, on the whole, bright and not price clipped. That said there is some very minor edge creasing and general shop shelf wear and the spine has a faint crease along it, which you hardly notice; also the spine is a little sun faded. Nowhere near enough to render the title lettering unreadable but it is somewhat faded. "Triple Smarties Gold Award Winner" banner across the bottom edge of both the jacket and the front board. In all this is a fine copy in very collectable bright condition.

Vancouver, British Columbia: Vancouver, BC: Raincoast / Bloomsbury, 1997, 1999, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 1st Canadian Editions, all are First Printings , 1997. ------------( all are 1st printings of the First Raincoast Editions ) ----7 volumes comprising the original SEVEN Harry Potter books, hardcovers, all are about 5.25w x 8h inches, the complete Harry Potter series all in Raincoast editions, all are Near Fine/Fine examples with some possibly being unread, all in Near Fine/Fine dustjackets, - all in uniform format and size, all with decorated boards except for STONE and CHAMBER which were issued with plain boards (in the 1st printings ---all subsequent printings of STONE and CHAMBER have decorated boards), a nice set that looks quite new and would make a dandy gift for a PotHead, some volumes are showing a bit age toning to the paper, ---all books have a complete number line beginning with a "1" EXCEPT for STONE which has a number line beginning with a "2" which in this case indicates a 1st Canadian printing, THERE ARE NO RAINCOAST EDITIONS of STONE with a number line beginning with a "1" in this original format (duplicating the UK Bloomsbury design), furthermore when Raincoast issued STONE (and CHAMBER at the same time ) there were a limited number of copies of STONE issued with a signed BLOOMSBURY bookplate, this copy has that signed plate on the blank page facing the half title page, this first printing of STONE from RAINCOAST is extremely rare and even moreso with the ROWLING signed plate ----STONE contains two errors which were corrected in later printings of this book: Line 1, page 8 has "highchair" instead of "high chair"; and on page 53 in the list of "Other Equipment" needed for Hogwart's School, " 1 wand " is listed twice ---errors that were corrected in later printings, as well the upper portion of the spine and the rear panel show the young wizard ---a nice set with all dustjackets in hi-quality mylar protectors,---the RAINCOAST editions are identical in format to the UK editions and uses BRITISH spelling and grammar ---, ---I suspect that this will be the only 1st edition set I ever have to offer---, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo /// SIGNED (one book) ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch) ---NO DISCOUNT AVAILABLE---SOLD as a SET only ------ An order from outside of the US or Canada cannot be accepted due to the impossibility of satisfying the necessary export requirements and documentation ---apologies for this----, . Other points include: repeated '1 wand' on page 53; misspelt 'philosopher'; Wendy Cooling's review. (Erringtons A1a English first edition children's artwork series in hardback.) Original publisher's pictorial laminate boards. Library circulation label indicating withdrawal, laminated barcode to ffep, label to copyright page, small ink marks to first page and star stamp to upper edge. Northamptonshire Library, interestingly local to us Very slight toning and soiling internally, pages are otherwise for the most part bright and clean. There has been some professional and sympathetic restoration work to the binding, evident to the upper right corner of the rear board. Creasing to front and rear hinge. Spine edges and corners bumped, minor shelf wear. The binding remains vibrant and bright, and while it is evident that the book has been wellloved it remains a smart, bright copy. Very good overall. One of only 500 copies produced, this true first edition has become exceptionally rare and remains the most sought after book in the world. Harry Potter has gone on to become a successful multibillion dollar industry, and the book that started it all is the pinnacle of any Harry Potter, and now even Literary Greats, collection. All first edition first issue points are present: ISBN: 0 7475 3269 9. Printing number line: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1; Wendy Cooling blurb to the front board; 'wand' appears twice on page 53; 'Philosopher's' is mis-spelt 'Philospher's' to the back board and; 'Wizardry and Witchcraft' [rather than Witchcraft and Wizardry'] to the back board. This copy was formerly owned by a primary school in Leicestershire which closed its doors on January 1, 2003. It has a neat rectangular stamp to the front free end-paper as its only evidence of having formerly been owned by a school. This is a VG copy with a slight spine lean. No fading whatsoever to the spine. Slightly pushed spine tips. A touch of rubbing and minor wear to the extremities. The rear board has a couple of faint creases and there are faint scratches in places to both the front and back boards. Lifting of the laminate in just one or two places. The page block has the inevitable toning due to the poor quality of paper used. Page 19 through 21 have just the faintest damp stain to the right hand corner (hardly worth mentioning). Really clean pages. No inscriptions. The boards are really bright and vibrant and overall this is a solid VG copy. Not issued with a D/W. The hardback first edition is of legendary scarcity this being one of 300 copies that were sent to schools and libraries. It is a TOTALLY HONEST COPY with ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THE 'DREADED' RESTORATION OR 'TOUCHING UP' WHATSOEVER AND IS IN NICE SHELVABLE CONDITION. Please note: Although this has a school ownership stamp to the front free end-paper this is NOT an ex-library copy. This book is housed in a stunning, bespoke, red half-leather clamshell box.
