For Example, The Author Begins "It Claims To Be No More Than The Opinions Of A Plain Man Expressed In Simple Speech", But Covers The Great Events And Issues Of The Time, Particularly Wwi And The Aftermath Of The War, From Personal Observation And Always With His Well Expressed Freethinker Opinions. Quite Intelligent But Quite Enjoyably Readable. From Ch. Xiii, The Bishops In The House Of Lords, "If Anything Were Needed To Show How Much The Church Is Out Of Touch With The People And How Much It Lags Behind In Progressive Thought, It Was Provided By The Debate In The House Of Lords (February 1934) On The Bill To Restrict The Sale, Display And Advertisement Of Contraceptives. The Bishop Of London Was Responsible For The Following Gem: 'I Would Like', He Declared, 'To Make A Bonfire Of These Things And Dance Around It'. What A Picture It Conjures Up- The Bishop With His White Surplice Held Daintily Up To His Knees As For A Skirt Dance."
