First edition, 3 volumes, 12mo (7ž x 5 ), pp. xliv, 296, v, 396, iv, 416, engraved frontispiece portrait. Contemporary half calf & marbled boards, gilt paneled backs in six compartments, gilt black lettering pieces in the second & forth, gist center & corner ornaments in the rest, top edges gilt, matching marbled end papers. Very good set with solid joints, wear to head caps & at back-strip feet. Minor rubbing, corner bumped & with some wear. Several lettering pieces partially defective or gone. Engraved bookplate on front paste down endpapers. Sheets with natural age toning but unusually clean & free of stains or foxing. Frontispiece fore-edge reinforced.
