In 1922 the Manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers noted in the introduction that all things being equal the team composed of 'nine scientific players' will beat a a team of 'stars'. This book represents the essence of good baseball from that standpoint. The book is an early example of the tension between analytics (scientific approach), and the old school approach. Very nice copy. A split joint is nicely repaired at title page..
