Description:
Northampton, MA: The Apiary Press, 1964. Some trifling edgewear to wrappers, generally a fine copy of a fugitive book. 8vo. [15] pages. Wood-engravings by Thomas Bewick in text. Hand-bound in marbled wrappers over stiff card. Scarce first book designed and printed by Ronald Gordon, whose future Oliphant Press would print many celebrated fine press books of the 1970s-90s. One of only 25 copies, signed by both Gordon and his friend the author, designed and printed while Gordon was still as student of Leonard Baskin. This is copy "A". WorldCat/OCLC record only two copies, at Amherst (Gordon's alma mater) and Smith (where Gordon attended courses with Baskin). A fine rarity from this important figure in the modern fine press movement.
