Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1881. Decorated green cloth with marbled endpapers. An odd-shaped piece cut out of front free endpaper, hinges cracked, spine headers heavily rubbed, light general wear: VG/no dj. 12mo. Mason #310: 1st American edition, later impression(?) with top edges gilt instead of yellow and decorated endpapers. Binding decoration is sunflowers printed in black rather than cherub imbibing seen on some copies. Mason does not establish priority.

Later full blue calf, spine in six compartments with raised bands, leather labels, gilt rules and lettering. Lightly toned. Spine slightly darkened. Signature of Raisley Moorsom in pencil to ffep.
The first edition of Whitman published in the UK, the only time Whitman (reluctantly) allowed his writings and his portrait photograph to be censored.

The second edition with additions. Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme. London. [1805] G. Woodfall, Printer, Paternoster Row to verso of half title. Octavo. Half title, Title, xv, 300, (21), (bl.), (1), (1)pp. 6 folding engraved plates. Later half calf, marbled boards, spine in six compartments, leather label, gilt lettering, rules and embellishment. Minor corner chips to half-title. Short closed fold tear to Plate I. Toned with some light offsetting of plates, foxing/browning to index.
This edition has an additional plate to the 1790 edition, plus additional material. The plates are each dated September 1, 1805. Significant to the library of the vine. A handsome volume.

"Why don't you come up sometime and see me?" SIGNED boldly "Mae West" in the less flamboyant style that was typical of her signature in the later 1970s. The bright and unfaded signature is guaranteed to be original and authentic. The photograph is in excellent condition; mounted on matboard.. SIGNED. First Edition. Paper. The postmark is March 26, 1968, but the signature probably came later (that is usually the case with autographed first day covers). We guarantee that the autograph is original and authentic. London: Unpublished, 1887. Kate Greenaway's autograph on laid paper, apparently clipped from a larger piece of stationery. Written at her home in Hampstead in the famous illustrator's hand in black ink: "Kate Greenaway, 17 September 1887, 50 Frognal, Hampstead, London--N.W." There is barely a hint of fading to the signature, and the paper is clean and unwrinkled.. SIGNED. First Edition. Paper. Fine. 2" X 4". Manuscript.
