A vivid biography of three women, Jessie Wilcox Smith, Elizabeth Shippen Green and Violet Oakley, artists in early 20th-century Philadelphia. Together with their friend, Henrietta Cozens, they lived at the Red Rose Inn on the "Main Line" and studied at the Pennsylvanina Academy of the Fine Arts. The three were successful, while Cozens tended to their domestic needs. "The Red Rose Girls is a powerfully moving story of women who lived extraordinary lives on their own terms.
