Name of prior owner, in pencil, on back free endpaper. A little shelf-cocked, with a small stain on front board and some discoloration of front and rear pastedown. One page carelessly opened, not affecting text.

This is the first state of the book noted in BAL 21639, having the Charles Webster imprint at the base of the spine. Condition of the book is Very Good Minus. The binding is straight and sound. Inside pages are complete and unmarked. Condition issues include:1) Light wear to the board cloth, including a few spots of discoloration on the spine, and2) The hinge is partially cracked but firm at the back endpapers.Price discounted for inventory reduction.

The first issue of Whitman's life in his own words, and a nice copy. A Very Good+ book with a few occasional, small dog-ears and an early twentieth century bookseller's ticket on the front pastedown (W.H. Lowdermilk & Co. of Washington, D.C.).
