Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding firm. This set is published over the period 1848 - 1849. Vol. I contains The Caxtons parts I - IV. Vol. II contains parts V - VII. Vol. III contains parts VIII - XI. Vol. IV contains parts XII - XIV. Vol. V contains parts XV - XVII. Also containing numerous other articles. This is the first ever appearance of The Caxtons, delivered anonymously and in serialised form. It was first published in novel form later in 1849.
