About This Item

Wendell and Van Benthuysen, New York, 1848. Early Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Fair Condition/No Dust Jacket. EMORY, LT. W.H. Notes of a Military Reconnoisance [sic] From Fort Leavenworth, in Missouri, to San Diego, in California, New York: Wendell and Van Benthuysen, 1848. Octavo, Senate edition, pp. 416, 43 plates, brown cloth boards with paper label to spine. Howes E145 calls for a folding map in a rear pocket, but the present copy has neither map nor pocket. Howes believed the House version of Emory's report was released before this Senate version, which is shorter and supposedly has the folding map. The horticultural plates here are by Endicott, and all the others are by Weber. Condition of this book: Fair with inexpertly repaired binding, backstrip worn and chipped, paper label almost completely faded away, one plate loose. Clean. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Antiquarian & Rare; United States; 19th century; Exploration. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 53310. .
