A UK 1st Edition, 1st Printing hardback book indicated by the 10987654321 number line to the copyright page. - SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR TO THE TITLE PAGE AND DEDICATED 'TO NICKY WITH BEST REGARDS'. DATED AND LOCATED IN THE YEAR OF PUBLICATION 'NOTTINGHAM MARCH 04'. WITH THE AUTHOR'S CUSTOMARY DOODLE ACCROSS HIS PRINTED NAME. COMPLETE WITH LIGHT BLUE WRAP-AROUND BAND AS ISSUED. - The book is in very good condition. A slight push to the top and bottom of the spine, and a slight crease to the top and bottom of the spine. Very slight lean but otherwise tight and square with no tears or inscriptions. A couple of small dents to the front board, and the bottom outside corners of the front and reverse boards are lightly bumped. Slight toning to the page block, and some very small creases to the corners of 3-4 pages (likely where a previous owner has kept the page) but otherwise a nice copy. - The dust jacket is in near fine condition and comes complete with its rare light blue wrap around band. It has not been price clipped with a price of £16.99 shown. Bright and complete but with slight sunning to the spine. - The wrap around band is in very good condition and displays the quotation from the Guardian Preview of the Year as required. Would be fine but for some slight sunning to the spine, commensurate with that of the dust jacket. Otherwise very nice.

A copy that is Fine, in that it is tight, clean, and never read, Near Fine in that there are signs of page tanning, and in a solid Near Fine dust jacket. U.K. First Edition-First Printing with a full number line ending with a 1. Signed, signature only, on the Title page, by Multi Award Winning Author David Mitchell, in person, during his book tour event for "The Bone Clocks" in New York City on September 15, 2014. A "The Bone Clocks" promotion tour postcard with the event date will be included. "Cloud Atlas" is a work combining metafiction, historical fiction, contemporary fiction and science fiction, with its interconnected nested stories that takes the reader from the remote South Pacific in the 19th century to the island of Hawaii in a distant post-apocalyptic future. "Cloud Atlas" begins in 1850 with Adam Ewing, an American Notary voyaging from the Chatham Islands to his home in California. And so, begins this unforgettable novel, a tour de force. "Cloud Atlas" won the 2004 British Book Awards Literary Fiction Award and won the 2004 Richard & Judy Book of the Year. Additionally, "Cloud Atlas" was nominated for a multitude of other prestigious literary awards, such as the 2004 Man Booker Prize for Fiction, the Nebula Award for Best Novel, also in 2004, and the 2004 National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction in 2004. Rest assured, this collectible, signed copy is well protected in an archival Mylar cover; and will be very carefully packaged with protective material; and will be shipped in a new box. We always treat all of our books, and book buyers with the utmost respect.

Book is bright, sharp, beautiful, and Fine. No previous owner marks, no remainder marks, no foxing, no bumping, no rubbing. Dustwrapper is bright and beautiful with no fading and no wear. Dustwrapper has its original price of 16.99GBP. Dustwrapper promo band is present and also in Fine condition. Dustwrapper protected in Mylar. The new editor at Random House (the original editor had left the company) made changes to the text and never sent those to Hodder and Staughton in London. David Mitchell has said he was too inexperienced an author at that point in his life to ensure that the texts matched. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 529 pages; Signed by Author

Comments: Tight clean copy with doodle drawing above signature.Synopsis: A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified 'dinery server' on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilisation – the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other's echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small. In his captivating third novel, David Mitchell erases the boundaries of language, genre and time to offer a meditation on humanity's dangerous will to power, and where it may lead us.
