Signed by Smith at front panel; signed by Lenny Kaye at rear. Good. Patti Smithâs debut single was first recorded in June 1974 at âElectric Ladylandâ and released on Mer Records. It features pianist Richard Sohl and guitarists Tom Verlaine and Lenny Kaye. Kaye produced the single and worked closely with Smith throughout the 70s, performing with her group and contributing to four albums. The sleeve cheekily states âFree Keith,â presumably a reference to Keith Richardsâ 1977 arrest for possession of heroin.
