Her seminal collection of punk rock photography, "Ask The Angels," was published by Double R Books in 1978, which was republished by Gingko Press in an expanded edition in 2010. A behind the scenes fixture of the downtown New York arts and music scenes beginning in the late 1960s, Friedman represented artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa, as well as managing Smith and John Cale (with whom Friedman founded Spy Records in 1977).
