Published by Harper Row Publishers from their Harper Crest Children's Library Edition in 1964, here is the first hardback printing of Shel Silverstein's THE GIVING TREE containing an extremely rare and personalised, signed and dated black inscription to a Dr Frankel' who has apparently given care to the same 'Nicky' (who this book was officially dedicated to) on a blank page at the front of the book. Photographs of the ink dedication are available on request. Green paper covered decorated pictorial boards, pages illustrated in b/w throughout, the book is in good condition with some general rubbing and chipping to both ends of the spine plus a few finger prints and a modicum of staining to the rear board. The incredibly rare signature and the dedication make this book extra special.
