The Text Block is clean, white, tight, straight and square, with no markings of any kind. The Binding is black quarter cloth to carrot colored boards, colors uniform throughout, with the author's initials in silver to the front board, bright silver title, etc., to the spine, white endpapers unmarked but for a prior owner's book plate on the front free endpaper, and all corners square and sharp. The dj has minor chipping with some loss at the head and foot of the spine, and there are small stains also at the head and the foot that have bled very lightly onto the covers. See photos. Inside between the front pastedown and ffep, someone has stored a contemporary review from the NYT, and that has a corresponding discoloration. Previous owner's inscription in pencil also on the ffep. The binding is square and secure, and the text ckean.
