He is bullied by them and his fat, spoilt cousin Dudley, and lives a very unremarkable life with only the odd hiccup (like his hair growing back overnight!) to cause him much to think about. That is until an owl turns up with a letter addressed to Harry and all hell breaks loose! He is literally rescued by a world where nothing is as it seems and magic lessons are the order of the day. Read and find out how Harry discovers his true heritage at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, the reason behind his parents mysterious death, who is out to kill him, and how he uncovers the most amazing secret of all time, the fabled Philosopher's Stone! All this and muggles too. Now, what are they? This is Jo's first book and she has already written seven outlines for Harry's further adventures at Hogwarts.

A UK 1st Edition 10th Printing hardback copy indicated on the copyright page by the single number '10' to the print line. - This copy is a genuine UK Bloomsbury Hardback edition, not a book club edition, and is illustrated with the earlier, younger brown-haired wizard to the top of the spine and to the reverse (rather than the grey-haired wizard that appeared on later printings). - The book itself is in near fine condition with only very very light crease to the top and bottom of the spine, very light bumps to the top outside corners of the boards and very light sunning to the page block. A very slight lean. Internally, the book is complete with no tears or writing present. A pleasant copy. - The dust jacket is also in very good condition and also has the young wizard illustration on it. It has not been price clipped, but has no price shown on the dust jacket. There are two diagonal creases to the top corner of the front flap, with some very light ruffling to the top and bottom. Light surface scratching throughout, but nothing that has pierced the laminate. A nice copy overall

In the run up to the Christmas of 1998, Bloomsbury released The Harry Potter Gift Set. The set was originally released containing a 4th printing copy of Philosopher's Stone and a 7th printing copy of Chamber of Secrets which is the set you see here. The set can also be found containing a 5th printing copy of Philosopher's Stone and a 10th printing copy of Chamber of Secrets. J.K. Rowling signed a small number of copies of the first 4th/7th set to help promote their sale for the holiday season. The set presented here contains signatures signed to their title pages in black ballpoint pen. Both books are housed in a publishers illustrated card slipcase which is priced at £21.99. The slipcase, books and dust jackets are in pristine condition with no fading at all, the pages are bright and clean with no obvious toning to the page edges, no inscriptions or marks or any kind. The books are unread, the boards are square with sharp corners with no foxing of any kind. Both signatures with the books come fully authenticated by Adam Houston theHarryPotterspecialist the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. The set comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. This is an extremely rare set to find signed in this condition.

The book that started it all. The true first edition of the first book in the Harry Potter series, being a first edition, first impression. Number line 101 on the copyright page as called for. Other points include: repeated '1 wand' on page 53; misspelt 'philosopher'; Wendy Cooling's review. (Erringtons A1a English first edition children's artwork series in hardback.) Original publisher's pictorial laminate boards. Library circulation label indicating withdrawal, laminated barcode to ffep, label to copyright page, small ink marks to first page and star stamp to upper edge. Northamptonshire Library, interestingly local to us Very slight toning and soiling internally, pages are otherwise for the most part bright and clean. There has been some professional and sympathetic restoration work to the binding, evident to the upper right corner of the rear board. Creasing to front and rear hinge. Spine edges and corners bumped, minor shelf wear. The binding remains vibrant and bright, and while it is evident that the book has been wellloved it remains a smart, bright copy. Very good overall. One of only 500 copies produced, this true first edition has become exceptionally rare and remains the most sought after book in the world. Harry Potter has gone on to become a successful multibillion dollar industry, and the book that started it all is the pinnacle of any Harry Potter, and now even Literary Greats, collection.
