["PROOF" copy in wrappers] in Two Short Touches and Two Full Pedals. London: Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1934. Original cream wrappers with title, author and "PROOF" printed in black on the front cover. First Edition, "PROOF" copy, of this Lord Peter Wimsey mystery having to do with nine murderous bells in a church belfry. This was the ninth of Dorothy Sayers's eleven Lord Peter Wimsey mystery novels, published between 1923 and 1937; she also wrote three volumes of short stories featuring him. Five of the novels, including this one, appeared (starring Ian Carmichael) on BBC One between 1972 and 1975. This is a "PROOF" copy, bound in simple cream-colored wrappers with the title, author and "PROOF" printed on the front cover. Although the text ends on p. 350 (plus the song on p. , as in the first edition, there are numerous differences compared to a standard first edition. There is no frontispiece plate; there is no Foreword on p. (the title verso), where instead there resides a printer's imprint; pp 37 and 55 are blank, where in the final edition they bear diagrams; p. is blank, rather than having the printer's imprint; all of this is printed on wove paper, not on laid paper as in the first edition; the gatherings are signed BN, CN, DN, etc; and there are no endpapers. Condition is near-fine (very slightly soiled, fore-corners of the front wrapper a little creased; the blank spine remains intact and clean. See Gilbert A10a.I for the first edition.
