Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, 1999-07-08. hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 5x1x8. 317pp. 8vo. sized. HARDBACK. 1999. 24th impression - published in the same year and in the same format as the first edition. A very good, clean, tight copy in like jacket. Some light entirely normal age toning to the pages. The tail of the spine bumped with some light associated creasing to the overlying jacket. The jacket has not been price-clipped and has some light fairly uniform fading to the spine. A very good, clean, tight early impression copy.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J K Rowling. Publisher: Bloomsbury, FIRST AUSTRALIAN EDITION, 4th impression. Number line 10 through to 4. Good hardback with jacket. rubbing and bumping to edges, inscription to ffep, light tanning to pages, foxing to first few pages, minor marks. Jacket has some marks, creasing, chipping and fading.
A fine, bright copy of the 21st impression of the first edition, 1999. Bright boards with just the odd light scuff and corner knock (though, you have to look hard to notice this.) No inscriptions and clean pages throughout, albeit a tad toned, more so at the page block edge; but this is quite normal with these early copies. The dust jacket is bright and not price clipped, although there is some minor edge creasing and general shop shelf wear and the spine is, perhaps, just a little sun faded (but hardly noticeable.) In all a very nice, collectable condition copy.
A twenty-eighth impression of the true first edition, with the number string: 30 29 28 at the bottom of the printer's page, with only "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" listed as 'also available'. ***A very good copy in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head of spine slightly creased. Corners sharp. Very slight reading lean to the binding but the spine is tight. The colours of the book are beautifully bright, with no fading, even to the spine. Page block edges lightly foxed. Internally, the book is near fine, with no inscriptions or annotations. Very light sporadic foxing - pages otherwise clean. The paper stock is lightly tanned as usual. No creases or tears. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. The dustwrapper is complete, with just light rubbing and creasing to the extremities, mainly at the head of the spine. No serious creases, chips or tears. The colours to the spine of the dustwrapper are just very slightly faded - mainly the purple (please see scans). ***317 pages. 206mm x 136mm. ***'Harry Potter was a highly unusual boy in many ways. For one thing, he hated the summer holidays more than any other time of year. For another, he really wanted to do his homework, but was forced to do it in secret, in the dead of night. And he also happened to be a wizard.' (Quote taken from the first paragraph of the book) ***A twenty-eighth impression of the true first edition of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", in very good condition, in the original dustwrapper. Being such a popular children's book, copies of the early printings from 1999 in reasonable condition (albeit with the above mentioned faults) are far from easy to find now. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
